Melissa Ellis Works

Native Texan and East Dallas resident, Melissa Ellis, specializes in heavily-textured, abstract oil paintings. She began painting in college while studying art history at Louisiana State University. Over the years she has developed a very distinct style of painting where she creates beautiful and unique patterns by applying thick oil paint to the canvas using palette knives. Melissa’s work is often described as ‘organized chaos’, referring to the spontaneous yet highly calculated and meticulous processes she uses to create motion, patterns, texture and depth in her work.
